What do I get with my account?
All coInnovate accounts come with many valuable features such as mail manager, CGI-bin, FTP, traffic statistics, FrontPage extensions and more. How long will it take me to set up my new account?
All accounts are setup upon approval of payment, then you will receive a welcome e-mail with access and login information. Once you have this information, you will be able to access your Web site. You do this using the instant access domain alias you received, an additional Web address that lets you access your site during the initial hours after the domain name registration or transfer.
For new domain registrations, it usually takes one to three business days after registrar approval before it is active. However, all Internet Service Providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect your new site's domain. Therefore, it may take up to five business days before you can access your site through your domain name. During the next few days DNS servers all across the Internet will update themselves with your new site name. Once that happens, you will be able to access your site using the domain you have registered.

What is a virtual domain?
Virtual Domain means that you can have your own domain name (http://www.yourdomainname.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With a virtual domain, you use coInnovate's server storage space, but you are branded with your own domain identity (www.yourdomainname.com) and your own e-mail identity (you@yourdomainname.com).

What is a stopgap domain?
A stopgap domain allows you to have a Web identity even if you don't have a registered domain name. The stopgap domain will look like "d#####.inv##.coinnovate.net" and it will not have any registration records in the DNS.

What is a parked domain name?
Parked domains are aliases of other domains. For example, say we have jane.com parked to your main account at john.com. This would mean that anyone who goes to jane.com would automatically go to john.com. There is no actual hosting involved with jane.com, it merely acts as a nickname to john.com.

Do you support subdomains or wildcards?
Subdomains are available with the Greata and Grandé plans at no additional cost. We do not support wildcards.

Do I have to register my domain name or do you do that for me?
You can register your .com, .net, .org, .biz, .us, .cc, .tv, .nu, .bz, .name, .info, and .ws domain name via coInnovate. We register new domain names for as little as $15.00 per year. Where are your servers located?
Our servers are located in a Network Operations Center (NOC) in Parsippany, New Jersey. There they are monitored 24x7x365 by onsite, experienced technicians, in a data center environment that provides security, backup power, and multi-redundant, direct access to the internet backbones. Will server side includes work on your server?
Yes, SSI will parse on any page ending in .sht or .shtml, rather than the usual .htm or .html.

How much disk space do I get with my account?
The Grandé Advanced Hosting Plan comes with 200mb of disk space and can should over 40,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!
The Greata Standard Hosting Plan comes with 100mb of disk space and can should over 20,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!
The Grotto Basic Hosting Plan comes with 50mb of disk space and can should over 10,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

How much data transfer is allowed with my account?
The Grandé Advanced Hosting Plan comes with 3 gigabyte (3,000 megabytes) of data transfer per month.
The Greata Standard Hosting Plan comes with 2 gigabytes of data transfer per month.
The Grotto Basic Hosting Plan comes with 1 gigabyte of data transfer per month.

Will I be able to access my site for updates 24 hours per day?
You will have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your Web pages on your own computer and upload files to your Web site at your leisure.

Can I upload pages frequently?
Each account comes with one FTP account. You have full access to your space via FTP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can update your site at your leisure.

Do you offer a secure server option?
Subscribers to the Grandé plan can implement SSL for secure, encrypted, and authenticated communications and transactions across the Internet. This special option has a one-time setup fee of $15.00 and service fee of $2.00 per month.

What is a CGI-bin and do I get one?
A CGI-bin is where you store CGI scripts. These scripts are used to generate online order forms, guestbooks, shopping carts, counters, and more! Every account comes with a local CGI-bin!

What CGI scripts come already installed?
All hosting plans comes with a hit counter, guestbook, bulletin board, chat, and form e-mailer. In addition to those, the Grandé plan has online community-building features including discussion forums, opinion polls, club news, member roster, group calendar, group to do list, group notepad, photo gallery, and club links.

Where can I find path information for my CGI?
That information is available in your control panel. Click on Web Options to review and select the settings for your account. Directory and path information are available in a window at the bottom of this screen.

What does CHMOD mean and how do I CHMOD a script?
There are several ways to CHMOD a file. One easy way is to use an FTP program (check with the program docs for specific instructions). Typical Permissions include 777 (for data files or directories) and 755 (For CGI scripts files).

What are autoresponders and how many do I get?
You can set up autoresponders to automatically respond to incoming e-mail. For example, if you have an order form that your customers e-mail to you, you can set up an autoresponder to e-mail the customer a confirmation message. coInnovate's Greata and Grandé plans include autoresponders at no additional cost.

What is an e-mail alias?
An e-mail alias is an e-mail address that you make up. Any e-mail sent to this alias would automatically be forwarded to an existing POP e-mail account that you specify or it would be redirected to another third party POP account that you specify.
